In practice it means we lean on shipping and scheduled delivery rather than same-day collection, and we front-load the parts that benefit from being in person – samples sent out early, digital proofs and photographs of sewn-out logos for approval, and a single consolidated delivery rather than piecemeal collection. For a program that reorders regularly it makes almost no difference. For a genuine same-afternoon emergency it does, and we would rather say so than pretend otherwise.

Which method for which job

Screen printing forces ink through a mesh stencil, one screen per color. Setup is the expensive part, so cost per shirt falls steeply with volume. Right for university and student group runs, school spirit wear, event tees and fundraisers.

Embroidery stitches your logo in thread from a digitized file. No screens means small runs are economical, and the finish lasts as long as the garment. Right for retail and restaurant staff polos, contractor work shirts, fleece, jackets and caps. Its limit is fine detail; text below about a quarter inch fills in.

Two universities, two kinds of work

Campus work here comes in high volume and on academic deadlines. Student organizations, clubs, intramural teams, orientation, Greek life, conferences and reunion events all order printed apparel, usually in bursts at the start of terms. Departments and administrative offices order embroidered polos and fleece on a slower, steadier cycle.

The practical advice for campus buyers is the same every year: the deadline is set by an academic calendar that will not move, so order earlier than feels necessary. Late August and early September are the tightest weeks of the year for blanks nationally.

Home services and trades

Fairfield’s residential base supports a large population of landscapers, builders, painters, pool and home service companies, and these are among our most consistent embroidery customers anywhere. The requirement is specific: garments that look presentable at a client’s front door while surviving genuine outdoor work. Artwork and lead times

Send vector artwork – .ai, .eps or high-resolution .pdf – and the job goes straight into production. A logo pulled from a website has to be redrawn first, which is the most common cause of a late order. Embroidery needs a digitized stitch file, created once and kept on record so reorders match exactly. Screen printing inks are Pantone matched.
